Sharks!

It’s (finally) that time again! Time to get geared up for the Broadway Sharks Summer League swim season; please read through the following information to help you get ready for the 2024 Shark Season! Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool to join. We will have one Test the Waters night the week prior to the season for those uncertain of their swimmers’ abilities.

1.                Practices (May 30-July 26) Champs (July 27): Swimmers will be assigned to a practice group based on their age and ability. Registration will be opening soon.

·        Swimmers should bring a towel, goggles, and wear a one-piece bathing suit. Girls should have hair up. Swim caps will be available for purchase. 

2.                Schedule Monday through Friday AM: Little Sharks practice is from 8:30am – 9:15am and the Big Sharks practice is from 9:15-10:15am. Please note morning practices do not begin until Monday, June 10, 2024.

3.                Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday PM: Little Sharks practice is from 7:10pm – 8:00pm and the Big Sharks practice is from 8:00-9:00pm. Please note, no practices on Wednesday, July 4.

4.                Pick up and drop off: Swimmers will enter and exit practice through the main gate. Parents/guardian’s should not leave the immediate area (pool parking lot or park) in the event swimmers need to be dismissed, including due to weather. 

6.                Coming to practice: Please arrive to practice no more than 10 minutes before the start of practice and no later than the time of the start of practice. If attending the first group evening practice, all should remain outside of the gates until after warmups. This will allow for the guests of the pool to leave and pool staff to clean the area. Come ready to swim with a suit on. Do not come to practice if you aren’t feeling well.  

7.                Leaving practice: Please exit the pool immediately after practice. 

8.                Practice Cancelled Notification: We will do our best to notify you of practice cancellations as early as possible. The Broadway Sharks uses Remind as our communication platform.

9.                Meet Information: Meets are as follows: June 18, 25, July 2, 9, and 16, 2024. Champs will be held on Saturday, July 27 at JMU’s pool being renovated. To participate in Champs, swimmers have to participate in at least two regular season meets.

 10.          Annual Team T-shirt:  2023 T-shirt designs* are due June 9th; voting will take place June 12-16 during practices. Orders will be taken June 19-23. Names of team members are on the back of the shirt. Previous Winner Designs

·               The design for this t-shirt is a contest. Swimmers are invited to design the front of the t-shirt. Entries should be on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of plain paper (printer or cardstock) no lined paper. Designs must be in no more than two colors.

11.             Shark Gear: These orders will be taken online and will be due TBD. This is different from the annual team t-shirt. More information will soon be available on the website. https://broadwaysharks.com/ 

12.             Pictures: Pictures will be taken at the pool by Christa Gitchell on Monday, June 24th – Please fill out the order form before arriving at the pool and have payment ready (check and exact cash only) to minimize the exchange of items. Order forms will be available at practice prior to photo day. 

13.             Fee Schedule (2024 TBD): 1st swimmer $ 80.00, 2nd swimmer $ 70.00, 3rd swimmer & additional $ 60.00. Registration will be online and more instructions to come.

15.            Stroke & Turn (Parents) – This role is important as we need Judges to be able to have swim meets. More information will follow.
